Hello there!  My name is Alec Travis and I would like to welcome you to our blog.  As I am sure you have already noticed this is a blog focused around self-realization, and questioning faith.  I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  For the first 10 years of my life I was brought up in a Lutheran home, we went to church most Sundays.  As time passed and I grew older I began moving away from religion and focused more on the spiritual beliefs behind religion.  I got tired of dealing with organized religion, I felt like all I ever heard was “our” religion is right and “yours” is wrong.  Just because I do not follow your religion exactly as you do does not mean I will burn in hell, it does not mean I need to be saved.  This is not a blog where you can come to bash on religious beliefs and ideas; I want to create discussions and conversations on what it means to be religious.

Would your god really not love me and send me straight to hell just because I don’t follow a book that was written thousands of years ago?  Even if I was a genuinely good person who never hurt anyone, never stole, and was always considerate of other people.  When it comes down to it, are those not the things that the bible really asks of you?
